Sonam Kapoor launches Michelin Star chef Vikas Khanna’s “Ustav” in Cannes
Bollywood actress and International Fashion Icon, Sonam Kapoor 29, who made her red carpet appearance at the 68th Cannes Film Festival, launched four times Michelin starred Chef Vikas Khanna’s most awaited book ‘Utsav – A Culinary Epic’ at the French Riviera on 18th May 2015. Vikas Khanna is the first Indian chef to walk the red carpet at the festival to launch his book ‘Utsav’, which is the most costly cookbook and weighs over 15 kilos priced at Rs 8 lakh £8000.00
Though the book will have a formal launch in India by PM Narendra Modi, the team approached international fashion icon Sonam Kapoor to first launch the book at the French Riviera due to her popularity. Chef Vikas Khanna said in a statement, “Sonam Kapoor is an avid follower of Indian culture and cuisine. It was a pleasure to have her join in the world premiere of ‘Utsav’.”
“Since ‘Utsav’ is a tribute to India’s rich culture, chef Vikas Khanna was keen to have Sonam launch the book at the 68th Cannes Film festival as she represents all that is Indian on the global front. Post her first red carpet appearance, Sonam took time out to launch Khanna’s cookbook”.
Chef Vikas Khanna walked the red carpet on 16th and 17th at the Cannes Film Festival. His look was put together by designer Archana Kochhar. Talking about dressing the Chef, Kocchar said in a statement, “We have designed five looks for Vikas for the prestigious Cannes festival. All the looks are created keeping Vikas’s personal style and comfort in mind. The looks are refreshing in light of all the blacks that is usually seen on red carpet.”
Ustav is about festivals and rituals of Indian communities.
Before the launch, Sonam had tweeted: ‘Pl join me as we celebrate India with #UtsavatCannes with @thevikaskhanna today. Moment of pride for all of us in India.’
It was a moment of pride for veteran actor Anupam Kher too.

The star chef, who owns the New York restaurant Junoon, which is widely popular, thanked the stars for their support.
