Spiderman creator Stan Lee dies at 95
Stan Lee, the legendary writer, editor and published of Marvel Comics died at Cedars-Sinal Medical Centre in Los Angeles . He was 95.
His career began at Marvel in the 1960s, and was known for giving Marvel superheroes personalities in addition to their power. He wrote, art-directed and edited most of Marvel’s series and newspaper strip and also penned a monthly column, “Stan’s Soapbox”, with his signature phrase ”Excelsior”.
Many of Lee’s characters appeared on televisions and films, including The Avengers films.
Walt Disney Company which bought Marvel Comics for $4bn (£2.5bn) in 2009, Disney CEO Bob Iger said “Stan Lee was as extraordinary as the characters he created. A super hero in his own right to Marvel fans around the world, as Stan had power to inspire, to entertain and to connect. The scale of his imagination was only exceeded by the size of his heart.”
The genius behind Spider-Man, The Incredible Hulk, Black Panther and X-men has died. In recent years, Lee had periodically suffered from illness, including a bout of pneumonia.
