Sweethearts finally come together after 65 years apart with a wedding

65 years ago a young couple in love were forced to call off their engagement due to parental disapproval. As Davy Moakes was an artist Helen Andre’s parents thought his profession was not suitable for their daughter.  They originally planned to marry in 1951 in Derbyshire.  Mrs Andre’s  daughter finally tracked down Helen and the couple met and finally got married last Friday.  The new Mrs Moakes said, “I’ve loved him all my life.  I’m overjoyed we’re together at last”.
