Terminator Genisys on the way – July 2 to be exact!
No-one likes to be called past it, especially if you are the true star of the show who can make box offices boggle at their takings, yet Arnie is almost but not quite referred to in this way in the mesmerising trailer of the next Terminator film to hit our cinemas – I say next, because I am sure this is not the last!
Arnie – looking fit, dapper and well for his 67 years has just been in person to the enticing Vue Cinema in Shepherds Bush Westfield (London W12) to tell us all – he’s back! Yes, the man himself came along and let us know he is thrilled and impressed with the footage he’s witnessed – together with an eager audience (a chosen few – running into around 600) who queued for hours to see the trailer and get a glimpse of their cherished hero. He had not seen any of the final cut before as the film is so fresh off the presses!
Arnie told his Australian interviewer on stage following the thrilling trailer that he is very comfortable in the UK and loves to come here often. I myself have seen and photographed him at the premiere of True Lies and the opening of Planet Hollywood so seeing him at this venue and event was a third time achievement.
It is now 30 years and four films after the original Terminator series began and 12 years since we saw Arnie in this iconic role – the first Terminator was shot in 1984 – however those in the know say this film is Terminator in a total re-imaging of the original saga. The only way to find that out if you’re a fan is so see it and maybe re-watch the other films first.
Director Alan Taylor has fused some material involving Arnie in his original Terminator form with Arnie in his current form – something which Arnie commented on as a piece of magic that could not have been done using film technology some years ago. British actress Emilia Clarke (Game of Thrones) is hot in the story and time travel and trying to stop crises through the same feature in the plot. Big names in the Australian acting scene also feature in this future blockbuster.
Having witnessed the trainer with menacing music and sound effects played at cinema shaking volume I can confidentially predict that Terminator Genisys will be a smash hit and that people who love a bit of action and some big movie stars in a saga with an ace track record will not be disappointed but thrilled with this latest action movie example of Hollywood at its very very best. The action scenes witnessed were extremely awe-inspiring and one must take some of it as fantasy- based in order to try and believe that the stars survive beyond all odds – which they do – so lets all look forward to 2 July when we can pile into the cinemas to see the whole kaboodle in the plenteous cinemas that surround us everywhere we go.
Wallow in it and enjoy it. Long live Arnie.
