The Mount Mayo erupts
The Philippines’ most active volcano, the Mount Mayon started a dazzling display by spewing out more than four miles of lava from the crater, after it erupted during the weekend. Thousands of people have fled their homes, as volcanologist warn a “hazardous explosion” could take place within days. The Mayon volcano had the most destructive eruption on February 1st, 1814, when the lava flowed, bombarding the town of Cagsawa with Tephra that buried it, as ash accumulating to 9 meters ( 30 feet) deep.
The Mayon volcano, is a classic stratovolcano with a small central summit crater, which erupted 51 times during the past 400 years, is renowned as the “ Perfect cone” because of its symmetric conical shape and its surrounding landscape was upgraded to a level three alert.
