Uber and Dream factory sponsors Rio Carnival
“Carnaval Rio 2018” Rio Carnival for 2018, is sponsored by Uber and Dream Factory, who donated £7.7 million, R$35 million, an event managed by Riotur.
According to Riotur, by attracting private capital, the City Hall, local municipality will reduce public expenses for the Carnival so that investments can be diverted to other vital sectors like education and health. The sponsorship money will be used to improve the world famous event’s logistics, including five video-monitoring centres, efficient medical and information services. Part of the money raised will also be invested in the Samba School’s Parade, one of the essential attractions of Rio’s Carnival. LIESA, the Samba Schools League will receive £6.5 million, R$ 27.5 million to organise the event.
According to Alejandro Perez, an Argentinian musician and Rio resident since 2015, “ Carnival is a cultural heritage that can never die and it is part of Carioca experience”.
