Vacillating right and intensifying left
Ed West’s Small Men On the Wrong Side of History gives an insight into why conservatives have lost almost every political argument since 1945. He propagates woke progressivism taking over the West, parasitising the minds of younger generations saying cultural conservatism is dying. The western world has gone through a huge cultural shift, comparable to the rise of Christanity during the late Roman period and the 16thcentury religious revolution unleashed by Martin Luther. Religious divisions once drove Catholics and Protestants into prolonged insanity. Conservatives like the Pagans and Catholics before them are very much on the losing side. The future appears progressive and their defeat is inevitable, part of an arc of history that leads to a progressive utopia in which they are left on the dustbin. According to Ed West Conservatives are Small Men on the Wrong Side of History,.
Under 40s in Britain are leaning towards left on cultural matters, and will continue to do so even they are old. Although the right may win elections, but are living on borrowed time.
The Tories legislated on gay marriages, and introduced a tax system which punishes stay-at-home mothers and expansion of left-dominated state bodies nicknamed by Michael Gove as Blob.
On the other hand Labour personifies sharing, kindness, gay, single mothers, and Nelson Mandela.
West explains, post-war psychology developed the idea of authoritarian personality, in which Conservatism was treated as a Psychosis.
Conservative Islam speaks of jahiliyyah, a time for moral disorder prior to the birth of Islam on the Arabian peninsula. West states that for the left their jahiliyyah is pre-1960s society, when racism, sexism and homophobia stalked Britain.
Ed West believes that left control of educational institutions is matched by its dominance of the arts, especially film. West suggests the volume of racism and sexism is in decline, but Nazi and Jim Crow past is constantly dredged up to motivate the troops.
The white male became the new Other, with Whiteness and masculinity declared toxic.
West’s book is a penetrating Conservative cultural critique.
