Wild elephant dies after falling into 18ft deep open well in India!
Open wells in rural villages are becoming a death trap for wild elephants when they stray in search of food out of their natural habitat.
A wild elephant died after it fell into a well near Pothundy in Nenmara, Kerala South India, on 21st June 2015.
The jumbo fell into the well located on the land owned by Vasu of Poongod in Mattayi here. Locals said wild elephants had strayed into the residential area on Sunday night.
On 5th June 2015, a wild elephant that strayed into human settlement at Venoli in Pudussry ner Palakkad when part of a herd of 10 elephants came to the spot searching for
food, and on 28th April 2015 a wild elephant fell on its head into an open 20-foot-deep well near Puthussery in Palakkad. Both the elephants were rescued to safety.
