Woman fell off from Trafalgar Square’s Lion sculpture
A 20-year old woman fell off from Trafalgar Square’s, 148 year old bronze lion sculpture, 11feet (3.3m) tall and suffered head injury, according to police. The London fire Ambulance was called to scene at 7.24 pm on 18th April 2015, and was treated for 30minutes by three doctors and two paramedics before being airlifted to Royal London Hospital.
The woman was rushed to the Royal London Hospital as a priority, accompanied by the air ambulance doctor. A spokeswoman for the London Ambulance Service said: “We were called about a person fallen at Trafalgar Square.” We sent an ambulance crew, a motorcycle responder and London’s Air Ambulance team to the scene.
The four lions created by Sir Edwin Landseer and cast by Baron Marochetti were installed in1867. In past, the Greater London Authority has called for people to be banned from climbing on the lion statues, to protect them from being damaged, although opposed by English Heritage is against a ban and said it would prove “deeply unpopular”.
