Woman seeking help after being divorced on WhatsApp

A 24 year old Muslim woman and dental student in Kottayam Kerala, was divorced by her husband on WhatsApp, 10 days after their marriage.

“My husband sent me a message on WhatsApp saying Talaq, Talaq, Talaq. He then called me and said the same with god as witness and mailed me too.”

When she asked why, her husband allegedly said “ One may be interested in apples but also want to eat mangoes.”

The woman has alleged that she was tortured by her in-laws – who supported her son after he abandoned her. She has appealed to the Woman’s commission to help her track her husband, she believes is in Dubai.

Her Husband Ajmal Basheer 33 had told he was working for a PR company in Dubai.

“He gave fake information about his work and fake residential address and seems to have disappeared from the face of the earth.” She said.
