A 116-year ban on women boxing in the amateurs had been lifted two years previously, but a lengthy court case forced the board to license the first professional female fighter in 1998, Jane Couch who was the first female boxer granted a professional license in the UK. Amanda Serrano, a Puerto Rican who settled in New York, made her debut 13 years ago has fought as light as super-flyweight (115lbs) and as heavy as light-welterweight (140lbs)with 30 knockouts in 42 wins and has amassed a 44-fight record with just one defeat and one draw, collection seven world titles along the way.
