World’s tallest clock tower to be build by Infosys in Mysore
Indian IT giant Infosys and one of the most relevant service providers, who employs tens of thousands of people around the globe, wants to build 135meters (443 feet)the world’s largest free standing digital clock tower built on 22x22m base in the Gothic style, costing £6.8m *$10m), at its campus in the southern city of Mysore in India, and says it should of course aspire to be the biggest and best in the world.
The current tallest free-standing clock tower is thought to be the 100m-high the Joseph Chamberlin Memorial Clock Tower “Old Joe” in Birmingham in the UK, and Big Ben in London is only 96m in height. Sather Tower in Berkeley, California 94m high and Rajabai Tower in Mumbai stands 85m tall.
Ramadas Kamath Executive Vice-President said “Clock towers symbolise discipline, perfection and the way we do our work”. The new clock tower will have 19 stories, which will include meeting rooms, visitors lounge, dining rooms and viewing galleries.
According to Guinness World Records “ Currently there are no record for clock tower, free-standing or otherwise and would welcome an application from India as the Mysore tower will be a third taller than Old Joe.
