Joe Root’s unbeaten career-best 133 powered England to an eight-wicket win in their opening Champions Trophy match over Bangladesh after a successful 306-run chase. Joe Root’s 129 ball innings with 11 fours, and a six with Eoin Morgan whose 61-ball 75 with 8 fours and 2 sixes, as the pair was responsible for an unbeaten 143-run third-wicket stand after Alex Hales and Root added 159 for the second wicket.
Tamim Iqbal’s splendid effort of 128 was invain.
The turning point of the game was in the last two overs which went for only seven runs, and made a big difference as Bangladesh couldn’t find too many boundaries in the last five overs.
