Italy’s Prime minister Giuseppe  Conte has said at least 16 million people are now quarantined and locked down including the Lombardy region and also in 14 provinces until early April.

‘ We want to guarantee the health of our citizens. We understand that  these measures will impose sacrifices, sometimes small and sometimes  very big. But this is a time where we must take responsibility for ourselves” Prime minister Giuseppe  Conte said early Sunday. The provinces affected were Modena, Parma,, Piacenza, Reggio, Emilia, Rimini, Pesaro and Urbino, Alessandria, Asti, Novara, Verbano, Cusio Ossola, Vercelli, Padua, Treviso and Venice.

The World Health Organisation has advised Italy to strongly focus on virous containment measures as infections spread in the country.

233 deaths and 6000 cases prompted dramatic escalation  to contain the new coronavirus which close all  gyms, pools, museums and ski resorts and all wedding and funerals are also suspended under the mandatory quarantine.

Leading Italian politician Nicola Zingaretti  the leader of Italy’s centre-left who had tested positive for  the virus  said “ I am fine but I will have to stay home for the next few days”.

At keast fiour people died  and 29 still missing in China’s  four-storey Xinjia Quarantine hotel collapse. In the southern  province  of Fujian.

Of 71 initially trappe 38 were rescued according to the Minsistry of Emergency Management. It is not clear  what caused the collapse.
