45 killed in bus accident in Shimla
An overcrowded private bus travelling in the morning hours, down a steep, narrow and windy mountain road ravine, veered off and plunged into Tons river in remote Nerwa in Shimla District, North India along the border of Sirmaur district in Himachal Pradesh killing 45. There was a drop over 15 meters from the road to the river. The accident took place 12 km from Uttarakhand border, almost all the passengers from Tyuni and the nearby area of Dehradun district. Police and rescue workers feared that casualties could increase as 56 people were travelling in the ill-fated bus.
