England’s new approach to one-day cricket paid off when batting records were smashed as England scored the highest total of all time in a one-day international, with 444 for 3, and hit a record 16 sixes in an innings and 43 fours. Alex Hales powered to a record one-day score by an England batsman of 171. Pakistan were below par but England were merciless in their clean hitting. Alex Hales was ably supported by Joe Root whose straight hitting and effortless striking, and Jos Butler, Eoin Morgan as England won the series to claim an unassailable 3-0 lead in the series against Pakistan. England have not lost a white ball game since World Twenty-20 final in Calcutta in April 2016.
