Indonesia Tsunami death toll rises to 832
Indonesia’s Tsunami and earthquake disaster death toll has risen to 832 according to the national disaster mitigation agency and warned the figure could climb higher as the affected area on the Indonesian island of Sulawesi is bigger than initially thought.
Several people were reported trapped in the rubble of buildings brought down bin the 7.5 magnitude earthquake triggered by tsunami waves as high as 20 feet high.
Indonesian vice-president Jusuf Kalla said the final number dead could be in the “thousands”.
People could be heard yelling out for help from the eight-storey Roa-Roa hotel which collapsed in the disaster.
Aid and supplies are being rushed to badly affected areas in military and commercial aircrafts.
