Adam Lyth hit his maiden century, AN Cook becomes England’s leading Test run scorer. Joe Root and Ben Stokes were dismissed cheaply with the second new ball with England still 97 runs behind. Earlier Broad finish with an expensive five wicket haul to curtail New Zealand to 350. ll test countries, to take 400 test wickets. However, New Zealand roared back and closed the day at 297 for 8, helped by England fielders Wood, Gary Balance and Cook dropped Latham 3 times in two overs. New Zealand’s disastrous start 2 for 2 was recovered by Latham and Ross Taylor who added 66 runs off 74 balls, with both McCullum and Luke Ronchi to continue the assault. Anderson, Broad and wood took 7 of the 8 wickets from Kristall Lane End. By close the tourist scored 174 off 40 overs in the final session as the morning session was washed out by rain.
