After winning US Grand Prix Hamilton on the Verge of winning F1 Title
Lewis Hamilton of Mercedes overtook Sebastian of Ferrari to be on the verge of winning his fourth Formula F1 title after winning the United States Grand Prix but will have to wait for at least one more race in Mexico next weekend, if he is to win the coveted driver’s Championship.
The Mercedes driver is 66 points clear of Vettel, who finished second, with 75 available in the remaining three races.
Vettel has to make up 17 points on Hamilton in Mexico City to take the fight to the next race in Brazil.
Hamilton’s driver’s title will make a fourth consecutive championship double for Mercedes, who clinched the constructor’s title on Sunday in Austin.
Although Hamilton lost his lead to Vettel at the start and had to fight for his win eventually passed him for the lead at Turn 12 on lap six. Once taking the lead, Hamilton clearly with a speed advantage controlling his pace managed to win the race.
After winning the race Lewis Hamilton said “ I feel amazing. Look at this crowd. These guys have been amazing. Since 2012, the crowd has been growing year on year. I think this track is now my favourite track. A big congratulation to my team as they worked so hard back at the factory and here. I feel great. It is a dream job. Many people would love to drive an F1 car and I can tell you it is the best experience in the world.”
Sebastian Vettel said, “ At the start, it was looking good, we got past Lewis, but we had to realise we couldn’t go at his pace.”
