Britain’s Andy Murray won the Men’s single Wimbledon championship for the second time with a dominating performance against Canadian sixth seeded Milos Raonic in the final.

The 29-year-old Scot, toppled the Raonic serve in a 6-4, 7-6 (7-3), 7-6, (7-2) victory wand repeat his triumph of 2013 and claim a third Grand Slam title.

Murray is the first British man to win two Wimbledon singles titles since Fred Perry in 1935.

“I am proud to have my hands on the trophy again as this is the most important tournament for me every year” according to a jubilant and emotional Murray.

“I’ve had some great moments here, but also some tough losses. The wins feel extra special because of the tough losses.”

The 25-year-old Canadian Raonic making his Grand Slam final debut, helped by John McEnroe went into the match with an impressive 137 aces. He was under pressure early on, seeing off two break points before Murray converted a third to lead 4-3, which was enough to give the Scot the set and continued to press in the second, negotiating four chances to break again but finding the net each time,

Unable to respond, Raonic eventually got a tie-break and a chance to server his way back to level terms, but Murray surged ahead with excellent defence and striking backhand winners. At 6-1 Raonic, had no way back as Murray went on to clinch the third set, when Raonic at last had two break points but Murray saw off with out any trouble.
