Audi drops “Provocative and insensitive” advert of a girl with a banana

 

Audi, the German carmaker has apologized for an insensitive advert showing a little girl eating a banana in front of a high-performance car, after it flared up criticism on social media.

Audi tweeted in its apology,  “We hear you, and let’s get this straight. We care for children. We sincerely apologize for this insensitive image and ensure that it will not be used in the future”.

Audi’s slogan for the Audi RS4 being marketed as a family car, in English above the image reads “ Lets your heart beat faster – in every aspect.”

Only in May the German car giant Volkswagen, owner of Audi, became embroiled in a similar social media row as its ad showed a dark-skinned man being maneuvered around by a pair of white women’s hands before flicked away from a yellow VW Golf to a jaunty soundtrack.
