Bangladesh stunned South Africa with a 21-run win at The Oval.

Bangladesh who were put into bat made 330-6, their highest one-day total with Mushfiqur Rahim scoring 78 and Shakin Al Hasan 75, the pair addsing 142 for the third wicket and Mahmudullah helped his side to post highest total with a breezy 46 not out off 33 balls, helped by sloppy South Africa fielding. Earlier they were given a solid start by Tamim Iqbal and Souymya Sarker who shared a partnership of 60.

South Africa in their highest chase lost crucial wickets, as Quinton de Kock run out early, captain Faf du Plessis bowled for 62, Rassie Van der Dussen dismissed for 41, with JP Duminy at the crease in the 47th over they needed the impossible 44 runs, but played on o9ff Mustafizur Rahman to get out for 45.

 

South AFrida have now lost both their opening matches in the competition having been beaten by England in the opener on Thursday.

 

Bangladesh play New Zealand in a day-night game on Wednesday at The Oval.
