Chris Gayle equals Yuvraj Singh’s record for fastest fifty
West Indian cricketer Chris Gayle playing for Melbourne Renegades in the Big Bash League (BBL), knocked Adelaide strikers reaching his fastest half century in 12 balls making 56 runs off 17 balls , 7 sixes and two boundaries.
Set a target of 171 runs from 16 overs, Gayle was on warpath, hitting four successive sixes in the first over of the innings from youngster Greg West. Gayle continued his assault in the third over taking 22 from Ben Laughlin to take him past 44 in 11 deliveries. Gayle’s effort however, was all in vain as his team lost by 27 runs, folding for 143 in 15.3 overs.
Yuvraj Singh had set the record against England at the 2007 T20 World Cup.
