Ethiopian Airline all-women crew aviation history
Ethiopian Airline made aviation history by dispatching its first-ever all-female crew from Addis Ababa to Bangkok, Thailand.
Ethiopian Airlines CEO Tewolde Gebremariam said: “ Attracting more women to aviation jobs is one of the reasons for hosting the all-female flight, together with empowering women.. It is going to be very inspiring for all the women all over the world, aviation and particularly African women , especially as we are lagging behind in women empowerment in Africa. So Africa’s school girls would be inspired and will have a bright future in the 21st century.”
The flight entirely handled by women in every aspect from planning to aircraft maintenance, pilots and air traffic controllers.
Ethiopian Airlines says about one third of its employees are women, but very few women pilots and technicians.
