Coronavirus: 3 million infected worldwide

In UK another 413 coronavirus deaths are recorded, the lowest figure this month. Of these 336  were in England, 14 were in Wales and 18 in Scotland, 45 Northern Ireland.

Stand-in PM and the First Secretary Dominic Raab said,: “ Coronavirus vaccine not likely to come to fruition this year. The antibody test is important because it can tell whether you had the virus, there is also the swab  test which says if you currently have the virus” and refused to be drawn on an exit strategy despite being accused of treating the pubic “like children”.

More than 1, 250 British travellers in Bangladesh are to be brought back to the UK after the government chartered a further five repatriation flights amid coronavirus pandemic.

Professor Neil Ferguson, of Imperial College, London, a leading scientist and government adviser has warned the UK’s death toll could reach 100, 000 if the lockdown is lifted too early, and even if just young and healthy people go back to work the risk would be huge.

Stress of coping with the COVID-19 pandemic could lead to a generation of “burnt-out” nurses who will leave the profession when the crisis is over, according to healthcare experts researchers from the Universities of Southampton and Surrey . Jill Maben, professor of health services research and nursing at the University of Surrey said: “Nurses are on the front line of care delivery, experiencing intense emotional, social and ethical difficulties as they rise to the challenge of caring foe patients in such unprecedented times.”

Public Health England is recommending people consider taking daily vitamin D supplements throughout the spring and summer as the coronavirus lockdown continues. Vitamin D is important for healthy bones, teeth and muscles and a lack of it can lead to a bone deformity illness called rickets in children and a smiliar bone weakness condition called osteomalacia in adults.

The sunshine vitamin, along with others, can help our body stay fit to ward off illness and infections – important during a pandemic.
