A 1000-year-old brush washer ceramic dish from Ru Guanyao, the most revered of the five great Kilns used from the Imperial China commissioned during the Song dynasty, is expected to sell for more than £10 million at Sotheby’s sale in Hong Kong, on October 3rd, 2017.

“Of the 87 heirloom Ru wares to have survived to this day, only four remain in private hands, the pale –toned with the color of the blue sky after the rain, the petit vessel has a diameter of just over 5inches the “ ice crackle glaze dish was made between 1086 and 1106.  The last brush washer to be sold publicly fetched £16 million in 2012 following a tense battle.

Nicholas  Chow, Sotheby;s Asia deputy chairman, said “ It was a unique opportunity to acquire a near perfect and ravishing brush washer form the Northern Song dynasty Ru Kilns.

The house is holding six Hong Kong Sales this season, the 230-plus lots on offer are expected to bring more than HK$ 600  $77 million.
