Our most favourite wildlife and locals from the African continent enchant and mesmerise.

Showing at the J/M Gallery, one of many exhibitions Davina has had including being nominated in 2020 as The Wildlife Artist of The Year, the range of paintings for sale reflects her recent time in Africa where she and her now husband lived for several years. One of their two children was also born in Cape Town. Davina is a relative of the famous newsreader Reginald Bosanquet and also of cricketer Bernard Bosanquet famous for “the Bosie” also known as “the googly” a style of bowling.

“Patterns in nature brings this tactile, human world together with my longstanding love for wildlife, which has been a consistent theme in my work.  It is as much about co-existence, and the challenges it brings, as it is about the more positive forces of connectivity and identity.” Says Davina.

During her time abroad Davina visited NEX jaguar reserve in Brazil and Afridat in Namibia. Some of the animals in the exhibition reflect this visit, and a portion of the proceeds of sales will go to support their amazing work.

Walking with cheetahs is one of the things experienced in Okonjima where the big cats are not fazed by humans. All experiences have been documented in Davina’s unique style from smaller easily affordable canvasses  and pencil on paper sketches of animals to bigger canvasses using multimedia and some unusual media which serves to enhance the movement and drama of the animals depicted.

The gallery is easy to find and near Tescos Supermarket, and Snappy Snaps  Portobello Road.  Regular bus routes include the 7 and 70 and nearest tube is Ladbroke Grove or a slightly  longer walk from Notting Hill Gate. If you can’t make it to the exhibition go the website as itemised at the top of this story.

Enjoy
