Diabetes UK  a charity say obesity which causes type2 diabetes, as poorly managed diabetes can lead to amputation, heart attack and stroke. The condition already costs NHS nearly £10billion a year, of which 80% was spent on preventive measures.

According to Barbara Young, chief executive of Diabetes UK “ The NHS must prioritise providing better care, with improved and more flexible education options for people diabetes now, and give them best possible chance of living long and healthy lives. The cost of treating diabetes will continue to spiral out of control and threaten to bankrupt the NHS. So Now is the time for action and take steps to avoid human suffering”.

Many more people have blood sugar levels above the normal range, but not high enough to be diagnosed as having diabetes. If the blood sugar level is above the normal range, your risk of developing full-blown diabetes is increased. So it is very important for diabetes to be diagnosed as early as possible as it will progressively get worse if left untreated.

You should therefore visit your GP as soon as possible if you have symptoms, such as feeling thirsty, passing urine more often than usual and feeling tired all the time.
