Disney and Fox in $60bn deal to create a mega media industry

Walt Disney and Fox are near to $60bn  all-share deal on the entertaining assets of Rupert Murdoch’s 21st Century Fox to create a mega Hollywood digitising global media industry.

The deal, values fox assets at about $60bn including debt, and would see Disney add 20th Century Fox home to the Avatar, X-Men film franchises to its own studios, as well pay-television brands from Sky in the UK to Star in India, regional US sports networks and Fox’s stake in the Hulu streaming service.

Among the final details which emerged were the total price to be paid by Disney and the future of James Murdoch, Fox’s CEO who has been mooted for a senior role in the combined group.
