A new script “Fantastic beasts and where to find them” written by J K Rowling has excited huge attendance for young girls aged 8 – 12 hoping to seize the lead part of Modesty and thereby mirroring the image of Emma Watson who played Hermione in the Harry Potter films.

Auditions took part at The ExCel London and some people camped overnight to get a place in the huge queue to choose a prize youngster to play the important part in the film which also stars Eddie Redmayne.  The story takes place 70 years before the fictional Harry’s birth and will be set in New York.

All girls were handed a certificate for attending but of course only one can gain the part. At least one of the hopefuls came from as far as Austin, Texas and that youngster – Audrey Thurmond said “This means everything to me”.

One of the contestants travels past J K Rowling’s house everyday and came with extended family by coach from Edinburgh.

Excited girls from all over the universe thrilled at the experience, short but sweet, of their auditions.  The film is being directed by David Yates, who did the last four Harry Potter films.  It will be a Warner Bros film and JK Rowling has tweeted “I’m so looking forward to meeting our Modesty”.  No doubt it will be a huge crowd-puller and we all want to know which pretty aspiring thespian garners the coveted role.
