After two years absent, the 2022 Edinburgh Festival fringe is back, with newbies breaking through to stars testing their new tours. Fusing with musical comedy stand-up comedian and screenwriter, Jordan Gray said “ it’s bloody hard work being transgender”, takes on babies, boobies,  and bigots. It was 2016, and she was competing on The Voice as the talent show’s first transgender contestant in the UK under the moniker Tall Dark Friend. Between performances, host Marvin Humes handed the microphone to Gray. “ I was just riffing and thought: this is so much more fun than all that other bit”. Gray, 33, performs songs, they are part of her comedy act combing her love of superheroes, experiences as a trans woman and Essex roots, and stints in Scotland and Sweden, under the title Is It a Bird? “ The conceit is that I may be the next stage of human evolution, I’m literally an X-Man”, she says. “When she started in 2017, her jokes about her music career and lot of being transgender, her first gig with no cliches”. She said “ people are still forming their opinions about what ‘transgender’ is, and characterizing to have somebody use very old-fashioned phrases like “sex change” or “tranny”.
