images O2 get into the mood as they hear the songs playing outside the viewing rooms in the see is the enchanting gift shop which includes a “diamond studded” black Elvis hoodie at £110, an “Aloha Suit Belt and Cape Replica Jumpsuit” at £2,900 and other much more soberly priced items including CDs and T Shirts (£25).

Church was a big part of the upbringing of Elvis – around 3-4 years of age he is said to have voluntarily left his parents’ side in the Baptist Church and walked-up to the altar to sing in front of everybody.

His first album with RCA sold 500,000 copies and “Love Me Tender” had one million advance orders. He was close friends with Frank Sinatra, appearing on his weekly TV show after finishing compulsory service in The Army. After a lush wedding with sweetheart Priscilla, Lisa Marie arrived 9 months later and Graceland, with 138 acres of land, costing $102,500.00 was where she was brought up. The exhibition sports interesting footage of its interiors – with a very retro TV and extravagant sumptuous décor, one room including a Hawaiian Waterfall. The riding stables housed Elvis’s golden Palomino “Rising Sun” and Elvis nicknamed his stables “House of Rising Sun”.

There was at least one statue of Jesus in Graceland, and there is an example featured in the exhibition. Elvis spent many hours reading-up on religion, also having a copy of the very popular book Kahil Gibran’s “The Prophet”.

In 1970 Elvis made a personal gift of a Colt 45 gun to President Richard Nixon and there is a thank you letter from him, amongst other personal items belonging to him such as bank cards and more correspondence. Towards the end of the displays and past a huge red scooter bike and red sports car – both owned by Elvis, is a room displaying posters from his many films and then an option to watch a music film in a small cinema, which lasts just under 30 minutes. Certainly there is no expense spared on making this quite a detailed look at the life of Elvis and the visit should leave you with some interesting memories by the end.
