Jonny Bairstow’s 124 propelled England in their chase of 337 to win the second ODI in Pune, with 11 centuries five behind Joe Root who leads the way with 16. The second-wicket stand of 175 came at a rate of nine runs an over with Indian captain Virat Kohli commenting “ some of the most amazing batting you will ever see”.

England won the toss and put India to bat first. Pant overturns two decisions via DRA. Hits 77 off 40 balls, followed by Rahul’s 108 helped India to post 336-6. India put on 120 runs in the last 10 overs.

KL Rahul slams  Tom Curran’s wide of the long-off fence for six which moves him to the 90s.

England openers put on quick-fire 110 for the first wicket.  Rahul eventually gets his 5h ODI ton off 108 balls and also his 100-run partnership with Pant.

Rohit Sharma at short mid-wicket dives to his right to stop the ball one-handed as their pull a stunner to run out Jason Roy as there was a mix-up between Roy and Jonny Bairstow as he falls way short of his crease at the striker’s end after making 55.  A superb sic ensures Jonny Bairstow’s 11th ODI hundred off just 95 balls, by slogging Kuldeep Yadav over the deep mid-wicket fence, 8 fours and six sixes.  Ben Stokes gets his 21st ODI fifty off just 40 balls. England 213-1.

Ben Stokes takes Kuldeep Yadav for three back-to-back sixes, who gives away 20 runs from the over.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s slow legside bounces, surprises by the pace, gloves it through when he went for the hook caught by Pant, is out for 99, four fours, and ten sixes.

Parsidh nails Bairstow as he drives where Kohli takes the catch. England 287/3

This brings together Jos Buttler and Dawid Malan at the crease with England requiring 50 runs from 13.3ov to win. A brilliant yorker from Parsidh reverse swinging into Buttler’s off stumps England 287/4. Two wickets in four balls should not spook England too much. England needs 38 runs to win from 11.3 overs.
