England roars into the first major tournament final since 2009 beating World Number two and four past Olympic finalists  Sweden 4-0 at Euro 2022 in Bramall Lane,  Sheffield.  The Lioness extended their unbeaten run to 19 games under manager Sarina Wiegman and will either play Germany or France on Sunday 31st July 2022. Golden Boot leader, Beth Mead and Lucy Bronze put Lionesses 2-0 up. Substitute Alessia Russo backheeled in superb third and Fran Kirby added fourth. Sweden who was very dangerous in the first 25 minutes should have scored.  Beth Mead scored for England her  6th goal of Euro 2022. England had to dig deep against Sweden to score the second goal by Lucy Bronze’s header to make it 2-0 for England, as the Swedish goalkeeper failed to stop it from finding the net. Substitute Alessia Russo, from Manchester United, chases down the ball and then whips out a backheel that nutmegs the Swedish keeper Lindahl to send England into a 3-0 lead.  Although Sweden sent on Lina Hurtig and Hanna Bennison, England’s  Fran Kirby puts the result beyond doubt, latching on to a forward pass before chipping into the net.

England has only ever beaten Sweden three times before. England managed the second half by controlling the game and putting a world-class team on the back foot. The game management has been excellent, and the individual performances have been excellent.
