Entrepreneur, and pioneer restauranter Haridas dies aged 70
London based British-Indian entrepreneur, and pioneer in promoting Kerala cuisine Thekkummuri Haridas aged 70, died at Tooting on Monday. He was also the cultural Ambassador and a former Indian high commission employee and specialist Kerala restauranteur,
Born in Guruvayoor, Kerala, south India, Haridas served the Indian High Commission in London for over two decades helping several people. From all walks of life.
He founded a chain of Indian restaurants including Ragam, Radha Krishna Bhawan, Kerala Bhawan, Pallavi, Rasa, Abi Ruchi, Krishna’s Inn, Cocum, Catamaran, Mantra, Princes Hotel, Signature Eastbourne, Pal Boscombe, and Raj Malabar with authentic cuisine from Kerala.
His Rasa Restaurants is the creation of the Award winning Chef Das Sreedharan who in 1994 brought the authentic taste of Kerala to London.
A devotee of Lord Krishna was conducting religious ceremonies not only in the main temple, but all the temples in the town on Vishu, the new year for Keralites, since 1992.
He will be very much missed.
