Facebook profits £2.03bn ( $2.9bn)

Fourth-quarter profits for Facebook, who now has 1.39 million active users each month, a 13 per cent increase, amounts to £ 462 m ($701m), a 34% increase on the same period last year. Advertising revenue grew by $3.59bn 53 per cent with 70 per cent coming from mobile advert sale.

Total profits for the year were $2.9 bn almost double the total of two years ago.
