Flying Scotsman, the world’s most famous iconic locomotives, the first to reach 100 mph on 30th November 1934, and also set the longest non-stop run by a steam locomotive when it ran 422 miles (679km) on 8th August 1989 while in Australia, has come out of retirement in 1963 after covering 2, 076, 000 miles and returned to the West Coast mainline. After £4.2 m restoration which lasted 10years Flying Scotsman is surging ahead in full steam, between London and York again. The dedicated “Scotsman in Steam” event on 9-10 and 16-17 January 2016 will see Flying Scotsman take to the tracks for passenger services, luxury dining trains and photography experiences. It began test runs on Friday morning at the East Lancashire heritage railway.

Today 7th February 2016, the Flying Scotsman travelled through Ribblehead Viaduct .
