A California-based start-up company was able to create a tiny device called TrackR, that works with your smartphone, and could be exactly what you are looking for. Time and again it has proven that California is a veritable gold mine of entrepreneurial talent.

The state-of-the-art tracking device the size of a quarter is changing the way we keep track of the valuable things in our lives. TrackR only costs  £22.99 ($29)  and a four pack £79, with a  choice of black, rose gold, blue or steel and install the free TrackR on your smartphone, connect the app to your device and you’re ready to go. Simply attach TrackR to whatever you want to keep tabs on, including your keys, briefcase, wallet, your latest tech gadgets and anything you don’t want to lose. Then use the TrackR app to locate your missing item in seconds. Already over 4.5 million units are sold.

The Track R app lets you configure separation alerts and there are two options, your phone can ring when it moves away from the TrackR and/or the TrackR can beep when it is separated from the phone

Bluetooth tracking gadgets can be a big timesaver. Some TrackR’s stopped working when it got wet or the batteries ran out. Their main rival Tilemate also costs £22.99 has a non-replaceable battery but found to last longer than a 12-month period and could be reliable as it is waterproof and sealed.

Tile has better range than the Bravo and a louder, easier to hear the alarm and is also waterproof.
