Google and Apple corner the future self driving car market
There is power struggle for the future market of driverless cars between Tech giants and Automobile manufacturers.
The new 2015 Chevrolet Malibu will feature both Apple’s CarPlay and Google’ Android auto systems that make the connection between your car and the your phone seamless. If we let silicon valley dominate our cars the automobile manufacturers will end up making devices. Automobile makes did not exactly embrace both Google and Apple systems wholeheartedly.
Fiat Chrystler a Ferrari subsidiary was the first car manufacture to adopt Apple CarPlay as the Apple’s Internet software and services supremo Eddy Cue sits on Ferrari’s board of directors.
GM CEO Mary Barra announced last month that both CarPlay and Android Auto would be offered in 14 different mass –market 2016 Chevrolet models. Hyundai began rolling out Android Auto couple of days before.
GM to introduce a fleet of autonomous vehicles to take staff around the huge site at Warren,on the outskirts of Detroit. The plan is similar to Google’s trials of autonomous cars in the area around mountain view California.
However, Toyota announced a deal with Ford to share a rival technology called SmartDevice Link that allows your car to control smartphone apps with Apple or Google’s help.
