US Hollywood actor Harrison Ford 72, has been injured in a small  vintage plane crash in Los Angeles.

Patrick Butler of the LAFD said a 911 emergency call at 14:20 (22:20 GMT) was attended a plane crash at Penmar Golf course in Venice, near the Santa Monica Airport, although most of the plane and its engine is intact. The plane’s single-engine, alleged to have failed and was piloted by Harrison Ford.

The 72-year-old, skilled pilot, who starred in blockbusters like the Indiana Jones and Star Wars films, suffered multiple cuts to his head according to website TMZ.

The Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD) said the pilot, was breathing and alert.

Aerial footage showed a plane on the ground and one person being treated by paramedics before being taken to hospital.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
