Harry Potter – How Ya Doin’? New play to “delight” fans?
Oh how adult life does tend to create challenges, and so is it true that school days are the best of your life? Well whoever coined the saying about school it was probably someone who was like Harry Potter as JK Rowling’s recreation of Harry many years on does not bless him with total success and fortune, which could be a tad embittering for his zillions of loyal fans. The new play on Harry as an employee of the Ministry of Magic portrays him as a man whose youngest son struggles to be the son of a celebrity wizard in “Harry Potter and the Cursed Child” the play due to premier in 2016.
It will be a two-part play and intended to be seen in close conjunction ensuring two payments to see the “full story”. The play is written by Jack Thorne, picking Harry up 19 years after the last of the former series of stories. JK Rowling says of the play, “I’m confident that when audiences see Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, they will understand why we chose to tell this story in this way”. A third writer, John Tiffany constructed the story and added, “collaborating on this story is exhilerating for all of us, and we can’t wait to present the eighth story next summer”.
Opening performance is scheduled for July 30 at London’s Palace Theatre with previews from June 7 and special previews in May.
Publicity material states, “While Harry grapples with a past that refuses to stay where it belongs, his youngest son Albus, must struggle with the weight of a family legacy he never wanted. As past and present fuse ominously, both father and son learn the uncomfortable truth: sometimes darkness comes from unexpected places”. Make of that what you will. No doubt performances may be screened to cinemas around the UK and possibly other parts of the world in tune with the popularity this method of broadcasting has received in the past.
