Riding ponies

A short story about horses ponies and riding with a comical slant owing to the names of the steeds
– A FLASH FICTION STORY FOR THE SATURN HERALD
What’s in a name? Well two friends – Julie and Julie – yes their parents had both, before either of
the families had met, chosen Julie for the name of one of their precious daughters each!
The two Julies were of the age of twelve and got on so very well their parents were thrilled.
Horseriding took up most of their time. Julie One had a pony named Brandy and Julie Two had a
pony named Vodka. The “complication” was that Julie One’s father had a horse named Pepsi.
Julie Two went on holiday with her parents and brother and sister. Sitting in the lounge one day,
surrounded by a throng of holidaymakers who were taking in their after-dinner drinks and coffee,
Julie started chatting to a lady who was making friends with her. It was quiet in the lounge as Julie
Two launched into her monologue…..
“I love Vodka, my best friend Julie loves Brandy but her father prefers Pepsi!”
Julie Two had a giggle then shut up. She’d said her piece. And that was that!
What Julie Two had not reckoned for was the impression her little chat had with the guests from the hotel who were all taking a quiet after lunch coffee in the lounge. To cut a long story short..the

impression was that Julie and her friend were alcoholics whilst Julie One’s father preferred gassy soft
drinks….ooops…no that wasn’t right was it??

Ha Ha.

ENJOY….
