Kohli’ s fourth successive half-century proved to be more than enough on a used surface offering a hint of movement and turn, which Windies sccumbing after only 34.2 overs to 143 all out.
West Indies captain Jason Holder said “ The bowlers did a fantastic job on this surface, I couldn’t ask for more but we let ourselves down with the bat. We didn’t seize the moment but I would have taken chasing 268. We did not do it. The bowlers has a reasonable campaign but our batting has been to inconsistent. This is our weakest format of the three”.
India captain Virat Kohli said “We can’t complain, we have just become number one side in the world and we have been playing like that for a while now. Things hadn’t gone our way with the bat in the last few games but we have found a way to win. Getting 270 was crucial after being 150-4, we rebuilt the innings and got to a winning total. On that wicket 270 was always going to be tough to chase.”
India moved above England into top spot in the ICC World rankings on Wednesday.
