Chennai Super Kings have bought England all-rounder Moeen Ali for £700, 000 at the Indian Premier League auction with South Africa’s Chris Morris is the most expensive player sold at the 2021 auction so fat was bought by Rajasthan Royals for £1.6m. England batsman Dawid Malan, who is number one in the world Twenty20 batting rankings were sold to Punjab Kings for nearly £150, 000. All eight England players have been retained by their IPL franchises in this year’s IPL, But batsmen Alex Hales, Jason Roy, Sam Billings, and spinner Adil Rashid, went unsold. Australian batsman Glenn Maxwell was sold to Royal Challengers Bangalore for £1.4m after they outbid CSK to secure his services.
A total of 292 players were enlisted for the shortened auctions – 164 of them Indian and 125 overseas and three associate players in the auction.
With 61 slots across eight franchises up for grabs, Royal Challengers Bangalore has the maximum, 11 vacancies to fill, with Sunrisers Hyderabad only three slots available.
