Top seed Novak Djokovic beat the Russian first-time qualifier and world number 114, Aslan Karatsev to reach the Australian Open final 6-3, 6-4, 6-2.

The 33-year-old Serb won the final four games to finally defeat resistance from karastev.

Djokovic,  who is bidding for an 18 Grand Slam to close the gap on Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal, will face either fourth-seeded Daniil Medvedev or fifth-seeded, Greek qualifier Stefanos Tsitsipas in Sunday’s final.

In the women’s singles, Japanese  Naomi Osaka with a 20-match unbeaten streak beats Serena Williams 6-4, 6-4, and meets American, Jennifer Brady in the women’s final. Brady beat Czech Karolina Muchova 6-4,3-6, 6-4 to seal her spot in the final.
