Italy moved to top of Group C with 2-0 win over Belgium with a ruthless counter-attacking brilliance which Bonucci’s 50-yard, defence-spitting pass as Emanuele Giaccherini scoring in the 32nd minute and an injury-time strike from Graziano Pelle in the 91:59minute, as the ball came to him at waist height and it took great effort to keep his foot over it, but the vicious volley found the goal.

 

Belgium had 18 shots against Italy with only three on target, 9 blocked and six off target.

 

Ciaran Clark scored an agonising own goal as Republic of Ireland were held to a frustrating draw against Sweden after Wes Hoolahan gave the Republic lead after half-time with half-volley.

 

Gerard Pique headed in a late Andres Iniesta cross to score the only goal of the match in the 87’.
