Jamie Oliver’s 25 restaurant chain collapses with 1000 job losses

Jamie Oliver, Celebrity chef’s chain restaurant group which includes ten Italian chain Barbecoa and fifteen others have appointed KPMG as administrators with a loss of 1000 jobs.

Twenty two of the 25 restaurants have now closed but two of Jamie’s Italian restaurants and Jamie Oliver’s Diner at Gatwick airport would continue to trade in the short term while the administrators explore other options for the outlets.

Mr Oliver who put in £4m of his cash  this year after being devastated said “I appreciate how difficult for everyone affected.”

“However, with no suitable investment forthcoming and in light of the very difficult current trading environment, the directors resolved to appoint administrators.”

Mr Oliver tweeted that “ I am devastated that our much loved UK restaurants have gone into administration.”

Mr Oliver famous for his Naked Chef books and TV shows broadcast in several countries after first being shown in the UK 20 years ago.

Jamie’s had failed to keep up with changing trends.
