Kapil Dev: One should play cricket for love of the game, so pressure does not come into it
Kapil Dev former Indian cricketer, Indian cricket captain, fast-medium bowler, and hard-hitting middle-order batsman, who was named by Wisden as the Indian Cricketer of the Century in 2002, during a conversation at the “chat with Champions” event, explained how one should not play cricket if they felt too pressurised. One should play cricket because one loves the game and enjoy playing. Kapil Dev emphasized how he never understood words such as “Pressure” and “depression”, which according to him were “American words”. If the players felt there was pressure in playing IPL, they should simply opt-out. He never found the logic behind pressure. He led the Indian team to win the 1983 World Cup.
