The World Health Organisation in a virtual meeting today, the countries plan to back a resolution demanding an independent inquiry into the pandemic. Although it does not single out China or any other country instead of calling for an impartial independent and comprehensive evaluation of the WHO- coordinated international Health response to Covid-19.

While the wording is weak compared to calls for accountability from the European Union, Australia, and United States, which have repeatedly blamed Beijing for the global pandemic outbreak, still with the potential for the probe to expose a damning or embarrassing report.

Top officials including Chinese President Xi Jinping, have admitted they knew that the infection was spreading even as the Wuhan government and police were detaining whistleblowers. Dr. Zhong Nanshan, the Chinese government’s senior medical adviser and the public face of the country’s fight against Covid-19 said the local authorities didn’t like to tell the truth at that time.

The UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has said now is the time for unity because we get through this pandemic together, or we fail. The US has yet to speak.

Medical chiefs in UK added today a new loss of smell or taste to official symptoms for detecting coronavirus.

The government’s basic definition  for Covid 19  will now be continuous cough or fever or anosmia ( a loss or changed sense of normal smell or taste. People with these symptom will be advised to self-isolate for seven or 14 days for a household one person has them.

The virus causes the olfactory clefts to become inflamed causing obstruction of the receptors that relay information to the brain including odour perception to brain,olfactory cleft inflammation.

UK coronavirus daily death toll rises by 160 to 34, 796, with over 246, 406 infected.
