 IMG_20190828_134547

“Book Tattoo and Couple”:-  Life After the Collective.  This exhibition follows a group of Indian artists who had a collective in the 1960’s. Now,  Mali is presenting his life after all the collective shows.  All this awesome conceptual photography is individually  printed on  1 metre canvases and this exhibition is going to take place at Gallery Poland Street, London W1F 7ND. The opening night is on Tuesday 27th August between 6 – 8 pm. So do come.

The tattoo culturally means many things to many people. In Japan for decorative and spiritual reasons the tattoo has existed for at least ten thousand years.  Maoris have adorned themselves with tattoos to give themselves strength, connected in figurative form to animals and the land.  More recently they are the  best known modifications to have ever hit mainstream culture in the west and the practice has grown.

Mali came to the UK after graduating in art from India in 1962,  being part of the “Impress school”.  Generally known on the continent as a network artist,  Mali  has worked on many teams, also giving seminars at various places of learning including schools and colleges. Of course as well as producing art, Mali collects it too!

Not long ago – in 2004, Mali’s work sold at Christies in London.  More recently he has sold at Bonhams –  both of these are amidst the very top London auction rooms. Since 2018 Mali’s work has become more and more collectable by all collectors.

Mali has had more than 200 group shows and his solo shows are in the thirties.  Don’t miss out on this chance to see and buy his work!
